Teaching Yin Yoga
Friday Janurary 20th // 1:30pm-4:00pm
In the Yin practice we slow down, root down and open the deeper tissues of the body that are often bypassed in more active forms of practice. The opening of these tissues releases a physical sensation that is just as intense, but very different from “muscle burn”. Energetic sensation in the form of emotion, memory and insight is also released. As a practice yin is sensual, yet cathartic. It cultivates calm abidance and stamina in the form of stillness.
Yin & Yoga Nidra Workshop
Saturday, Janurary 21st // 1:30pm-4:00pm
Yoga Nidra is a systematic method for total relaxation. Yoga Nidra means “Sleep of the Yogis.” At the height of practice, the subconscious – where our deepest tensions are stored – becomes relaxed and open. You’ll be guided into a familiar state of mental twilight between wakefulness and sleep known to neuroscientists as “theta.” Practitioners of Yoga Nidra describe a floating feeling of luscious comfort, safety, and well-being.
